Local man confesses to raping three children

A 66-year-old Jennings man who was arrested in 2012 for indecent behavior with a juvenile was arrested again this week – for three counts of aggravated rape of a six-year-old, a seven-year-old and a nine-year-old.

Jennings Police Chief Todd D’Albor, along with Lake Charles Police Chief Don Dixon, in conjunction with the Sulphur Police Department and Welsh Police Department, have been working in joint effort for several months in regards to a rash of vehicle burglaries. The burglaries that have covered Southwest Louisiana seem to have a common thread.

Elton football coach charged with two counts of molestation

ELTON – Elton High School (EHS) football coach and teacher Justin Joseph Fruge, 35, was arrested and booked into the parish jail with no set bond Monday night, charged with two counts of molestation of a juvenile stemming from allegations dating back to 2008.

ELTON – The Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana recently announced the crowning of its Tribal princesses at the 2015 Coushatta Princess Pageant held at the Coushatta Multipurpose Complex on Saturday, Jan. 10. Robin Langley was crowned Coushatta Tribal Princess and Aniyah Williams was crowned Coushatta Jr. Princess.

Second arrest made in child molestation case

Clarence Bouley, the 66-year-old Jennings man who was arrested last week for molesting three young girls, could face additional counts of child rape if the investigation turns up more victims. In the meantime, Bouley’s case led to the arrest of a second suspect, identified as a 15-year-old male family member of Bouley.

La. rice farmers to hold state meeting in Jennings

Louisiana’s two largest grower organizations, the Louisiana Rice Council (LARC) and the Louisiana Rice Growers Association (LARGA), have scheduled their annual joint membership meeting for Tuesday, Feb. 10 at the Grand Marais this year. The meeting will open with a trade show, reception and dinner at 4 p.m. followed by exhibitors from rice-specific industries explaining products and services before the meeting program begins at 5:45. This meeting has been an annual event since 1972 but this will be the first time it’s being held in Jennings.


HHS to host Career Expo

Hathaway High School (HHS) in conjunction with Elton High School (EHS) will be hosting a JumpStart Career Expo on Monday, January 26. The expo will be held at the EHS Oris Guidry Gymnasium for any students in Jeff Davis Parish (JDP) who are interested in pursuing a headstart on educational options after high school graduation. It is designed to help students begin making educational decisions on whether to pursue a college bound or technical based curriculum for the upcoming school year.

Matt Hill of Welsh scored a new Ashley recliner courtesy of Bordelon’s Furniture and Jennings Daily News, after sweeping the Pigskin Predictions Super Contest. Readers were asked to submit an entry form containing score predictions for the NFC and AFC Divisional Championship games in order to win. The winning entry needed to feature the exact scores of both games or the closest total of the combined scores. In addition to the recliner, Hill’s lucky numbers also got him a smoked brisket from Cormier’s Specialty Meats; five pounds of sausage from Coleman’s Sausage and Specialty Meats; two Value Meals and two Happy Meals from McDonald’s; and a $20 gift card to Bourbon Street.
